Hike #1
Enjoy this Wildflower Extravaganza as we travel through alpine
meadows and across high ridges decorated with tamarack snags.
July 2:
We pick you up in Chelan at 8:00 a.m. for the ride up to the Crater
Creek Trailhead, elevation, 4700’. We’ll then hike up
to Horse-head Pass (7600’), drop down past Boiling Lake and
on to Hoodoo Basin where we will camp at 6700’ surrounded by
meadows and ridges.
July 3:
A great layover day to scale the nearby ridges and enjoy the high alpine
meadows teeming with a huge variety of wildflowers at their peak.
July 4:
We travel west on the Summit Trail over Chipmunk Pass (7000’)
with glimpses of Lake Chelan and more meadows, on to Mule Shoe Camp
(6700’).
July 5:
This is a great layover day and a beautiful camp. We have Surprise
Lake for some dandy fishing and Starr Peak (8690’) is just
a couple miles and a scramble away from camp.
July 6:
A short day of about 5 miles over Robinson Pass (7000’) to Twin
Springs, elevation 7000’. A great little camp nestled in a big
meadow basin between two streams.
July 7:
Lay-over here so you can visit Tuck-away Lake about a mile from camp
and go on up and over the ridge to Oval Lake.
July 8:
We’ll hike the 10 miles out Eagle Creek to our van waiting for
us at the trailhead for the trip back to Chelan.
